Possible applications

Semi-finished products are used as raw material for the production of busbars or other products. The procurement of smaller quantities is usually not possible.

The solution: Order semi-finished products from the buzzbar standard product range and get only what you really need! A standard length of 4000 mm allows you to be flexible in your further processing. Shorter busbars can be found in our saw cuts.

Special features of CoppAl® busbars

Our CoppAl® busbars are composite busbars made of copper and aluminium, also called CuAL or Cuponal.

The copper sheath encloses the aluminium core of the busbars and, thanks to the hydrostatic pressing process, is inseparably connected to it. In this way, we can optimally combine the positive properties of highly conductive copper with the low weight of aluminium. CoppAl® busbars are cheaper with the same current-carrying capacity, and thus a cost-saving alternative to copper busbars.

FAQs

Simply process CoppAl® in the same way as you are used to with conventional copper bars. Even bends of more than 90° are no problem. Neither the copper sheath nor the aluminium core will be damaged with a bending mandrel.

No. Under normal conditions, such as those found in electrical operating rooms, no increased corrosion occurs.

Outside of electrical operating rooms, with increased humidity and the presence of electrolytes (e.g. sea air), you must expect increased corrosion at the cut edges and in the area of the holes. In case of doubt, we therefore recommend additional corrosion protection (e.g. galvanic finishing, paint coating, grease, acid-free Vaseline).

Yes. Galvanised screws or stainless steel screws can be used under normal conditions without any problems.

In most cases, the same holder spacing can be used as for copper rails.

Most commercially available holders can be used here. If you decide to use CoppAl® , however, you should note that an approximately 20 % larger cross-section must be used compared to copper bars for the same rated current.

The thermal behaviour is similar to that of copper rails. The dynamic properties are between copper and aluminium rails.

For CoppAl® busbars, DIN 43 670, Part 2 (copper-clad busbars made of aluminium) applies.
